1 + kW in EDF applications will require sufficient cooling. As with all of the ARC's this can be exceeded as long as the motor stays cool.
This is Dave's answer to the ultimate EDF motor. Built for 70mm EDF fans such as the WeMo 480 and the HET 6904. 5S is safe, anything higher is considered "experimental." Even at 5S, extreme care should be taken; balancing the rotor is vital to your health and safety (as well as the health and safety of the motor and your plane). Please keep all fingers and body parts clear of the fan when this motor is running. If a blade breaks, bad things can happen - BE WARNED! These motors are only recommended for experienced RC enthusiasts who are safety conscious.
Dave recommends the 28mm heatsink sold in our Accessories section and heatsink grease or thermal paste can be used to help conduct heat between the motor and heatsink. Dave likes Arctic Silver made for computer CPU's and found at stores that sell computer components. Beware it may be conductive.
This motor is extremely difficult to wind so it is more expensive than our other lines. We only recommend this motor for experienced pilots.
